My Air Conditioner Sounds Like It Has Water in It - Why?

If your air conditioner sounds like it has water in it, then this can mean one of a few things.  There is a simple solution to this problem and if it doesn't help, then there might be something more serious going on.

The reason that I'm posting about this is because I had this happen recently and I've had it happen in the past.  I have a brother that is a master certified heating and cooling tech with his own business, so I learned long ago what to do for this problem.

Has it rained recently?  Maybe some rain got into your unit.  Have you tilted your unit?  Tilting your air conditioning unit might also help.  If your air conditioner is making a water gurgling noise, then try turning it from "cool" to "fan" for a while and see if that makes a difference.  This is what helps me when we get a lot of rain or if it's just making that gurgling noise due to water/moisture building up that can't drip out because it's not tilted.

I'm not able to tilt mine right now either, so as soon as I start hearing the gurgling noise, I put it on "fan" for about an hour or so until the water dries up.  I have to do this a couple of times to get my a/c running smooth again.  Give it a try and if that doesn't help then you may have to have your air conditioner serviced or repaired, or you might have to buy a brand new one altogether.
