The Black Cloud...

There was a black cloud upon me today... It started with me spraining my right foot coming down the stairs with a bowl of popcorn that someone left at the top of the stairs on the railing for the cats to spill.

I had my almost finished cup of coffee in my other hand when I tripped on toys at the bottom of the stairs.

This was also after spending two hours on the phone with my cable company, because my 16-year-old messed up the wires to the modem and router, which caused our internet to go out.

At one point the phone was out too, because it's digital and everything is connected. Missed the 3:30 p.m. bus to the store after being on the telephone with the cable company for two hours. Then someone screamed at me walking to the bus stop for the 4:30 p.m. bus.

Yes, screamed for no apparent reason...and screamed loud to get a reaction out of me. They got a reaction out of me alright... I flipped them off and then kept walking on my way. I found the fact that they screamed to be ruder than me flipping them off. Then I'm sitting at the bus stop by two nice quiet people when some young woman walks by us pushing a bike up the hill and a brand new Honda drives by.

A little kid who looked to be about ten or 11 years of age yells out the window "get a car." The woman pushing the bike said something to the boy and so did I. I said, "nice manners." The woman pushing the bike looked over at me. We both smiled and I said, "kids."

The bus was late. I get to Walmart and see the darkest clouds that I've seen in a long time. Looked like a potential wall cloud, lol. This is New York - not the mid-west. I do my shopping, get to the register and realize that I grabbed heavy whipping cream instead of creamer, which = no, we can't have that, so I had to stop my order.

I was at the self checkout and I had only scanned two other things, so it was okay. Cancelled the order, went back for creamer and find a line. Finally check out and realize I didn't have enough bags with me to take on the bus, but made the best of things with the bags I had. I stuffed things, but carefully. Call the bus company from a store phone, because the pay phone doesn't work and I no longer own a cell phone.

I have to call the bus company if I need a bus back from Walmart, because they no longer come to Walmart automatically like they used to, unless you request it. They say the bus will be there at 6 p.m. I fear getting left behind, because it's not automatic and one time the bus driver did forget me. Luckily that time I saw her drive by and called right away. She had to come back for me...

No more bus's till 8 p.m. after the 6 p.m. bus, and that's frightening when you have to get home to kids and to cook dinner. Get to the doors of Walmart when I can see that it's pouring the biggest down pour I've seen in a long time. Luckily it slows down when I'm about to go outside. I go into my wallet to get my bus money and noticed right away that the bank card I just used was missing.

Run back to the register fearing that I will miss my bus and my card is not at the register. Horrific thoughts of someone finding my card flash through my mind, but I have no time to run to customer service. I figure I'll just cancel the card when I get home. Wait for bus; bus comes, but wrong bus. I mentioned to the bus driver that I was waiting for the bus and which bus I'm waiting for and she says that bus is on it's way.

Ten minutes go by - no bus. I fear the worst. Then I see a bus go by; I assumed it was my bus and ran back into Walmart to call the bus company, because she would of had to come back. Turns out that wasn't my bus either and now I'm afraid that I'm gonna really miss her. Run back out just in time to see the bus pulling in to the parking lot. Get on bus with more bags than planned.

Bags are heavy, bus is full of people and stinks like the worst body odor I've smelled in my life. And honestly any time I've smelled bad body odor has been, dun, dun, dun, on a bus. I thought I was going to vomit the whole way home. When I take my groceries out of the cart the cart rolls in front of bus.

Walk to get cart to put back on sidewalk and step in big puddle, which saturates my shoes and my capris. I "carry on" mad as hell, though. Quadruple checked my wallet on the bus for my card and finally FOUND it! Apparently, I was so stressed that I put it in the wrong place! Ugh, my brain.

Get back to town and pain in ankle is beginning to set in. Almost home when the bus lady tells me that she has to let me out "here" as in - in town. She usually lets me out closer to my home. It turns out that she was going on her break. I had to walk through town down a big steep hill and up another steep hill with five bags, three of which were very heavy.

Damn near cried at one point and asked God why he hated me so much because it really feels like it lately. I had told the bus driver if I had known she was going on her break I would of gotten off closer to my house on a different street. She knows this because that's where I used to get off before I realized she could get me closer. I get home and ankle is in excruciating pain at this point. I'm hopping around now but all is well with the world because I'm home.
