Well I've had this homemade play dough recipe for about nine years now and can remember making it with my older three boys when they were little.

It was so much fun and you can make any color you like with food coloring. We basically did all of the colors in the rainbow.

I had originally found this homemade play dough recipe on Nick Junior and printed it out. I couldn't find it on their site about a year ago or so, but it's back now.

I still have my old print out though, too. So if you'd like to learn how to make homemade play dough, have fun! I hope you enjoy this homemade play dough recipe and have as much fun making it as I did!! Homemade play dough always takes me back to my own childhood. Just the smell of it...just something about it. Good memories...

Nick Jr.'s Homemade Play Dough Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup of flour
1/2 cup salt
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 cup of water
1 tsp. food coloring
2 tsp. oil

Homemade Play Dough Directions:

Step 1:  Measure out the first three ingredients and stir together in a medium sized saucepan.

Step 2:  Over medium heat, gradually stir in 1 cup of water, 1 tsp. of food coloring and 2 tsp. of oil.

Step 3:  Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously.  Cook until the mixture forms a gooey, sticky ball.  Keep stirring or else the mixture will burn on the bottom if you're not careful.

Step 4:  Remove the pan from heat.

Step 5:  Let the dough cool for 15-20 minutes before playing with it.  Keep the dough in an air tight container when not in use.  (I used zip lock baggies too!)

Step 6:  Have fun!!
